Fate or Flexibility?

By: Jonathan Noble

Can you flexibly create your own destiny,
Or are you only helplessly servant to fate?
Take the bait of this one ageless question
And you’ll be victim to a mind congestion!
Some say, ‘Make your own future happen,’
While others take these passing moments
As making them, forsaking all hope
Of varying the preordained course;
Some set out to build an empire of dreams
Then seem to falter on the rocks of reality
While others easily drink the cream of life
Just because it flows their way every day,
So who’s to say?
Some are born into wealth and good health
While others are sick and ever stuck
With a load of bricks to kick against!
But a self-proclaimed guru makes billions
Telling millions they can have what they
Want if only they are devoted and motivated,
But why should he be paid to tell some maid
She can be queen one day
If only she follows his way?
Can you flexibly create your own destiny,
Or are you only helplessly servant to fate?
Or does the answer, perhaps, lie somewhere
Between the two extremes?
