A Lover’s Eyes

By: Jack Earl Williams Jr. (aka “Sage de Amor”)

Amber eyes which fossilized me in a patient mood
Curves that elude
to the shape of life
Death haunts her
But she is too polite
Her light brown eyes shine with steady light
And warm my being with joy
In her eyes I play like a child with a toy
Her in sorrow I want to avoid
If she bugged me I wouldn’t be annoyed
Because she sings when she speaks
Because of her
I am a soul loneliness can’t keep.
Doves may weep
Behind her graceful stance
But I’m the traveler on the advance.
With time to claim his chance.
The dragon slayer with his lance
And my trusty stallion which likes to prance
The band plays for our camp
And I’m her reward for being champ.
Both guided by a lamp
It’s unity and peace we amp
